 Militant terrorists and the mafia both do work against the law and against humanity, but there are some differences between them.

 Militant terrorists are desperate to implement their own ideals. But the mafia has no such ideology.

 Militant terrorists are eager to seize political power. But the mafia saves its own interests without occupying political power, through some people in that government. Such as: managing someone powerful to make the smuggling business successful, extorting some part of the extortion money with someone powerful, etc.

"জঙ্গি সন্ত্রাসীদের আদর্শ থাকে, কিন্তু মাফিয়াদের সাধারণতঃ কোন আদর্শ থাকে না।"

জঙ্গি সন্ত্রাসী আর মাফিয়া দুটোই আইন ও মানবতাবিরোধী কাজ করে, কিন্তু ওদের মধ্যে কিছুটা পার্থক্য আছে।

জঙ্গি সন্ত্রাসীরা নিজেদের আদর্শ বাস্তবায়নের জন্য মরিয়া হয়। কিন্তু মাফিয়াদের তেমন কোন আদর্শ থাকে না।

জঙ্গি সন্ত্রাসীরা রাজনৈতিক ক্ষমতা দখল করতে তৎপর থাকে। কিন্তু মাফিয়ারা রাজনৈতিক ক্ষমতা দখল না করে যখন যে গভমেন্ট ক্ষমতায় আসে, তখন সেই গভমেন্টের কিছু লোকের মাধ্যমে নিজেদের স্বার্থ উদ্ধার করে। যেমন : চোরা কারবার সফল করতে ক্ষমতাশালী কেউকে ম্যানেজ করা, চাঁদাবাজির টাকার কিছু অংশ ক্ষমতা ক্ষমতাশালী কেউকে দিয়ে চাঁদাবাজি চালু রাখা প্রভৃতি।
